In collaboration with the architectural studio AP Valletta, I was invited to contribute to the creation of a dining pavilion in Malta — a refined extension to a traditional residence.

While the addition of a light structure to a solid house is a familiar architectural gesture, this project stands out for its sensitive approach to climate and materials. In the intense Maltese sun, shade becomes essential. I helped create a concertina-like glass screen, adorned with a sculptural installation I designed specifically for the space.

The piece is made from sculpted linen, hand-woven and fitted onto the steel framework of the pavilion’s structure. These woven ‘trees’ filter the sun, creating shifting patterns and a quiet dialogue between nature, craft, and structure.

This project allowed for a meaningful exchange between architecture and textile sculpture — rooted in place, yet open to light and air.
